Got back into trains after 40 year hiatus when my best friend died and left me his collection. I sold that to buy a G scale Christmas tree set. The “bug” was back.
I have been collecting literature about the B&O and Monon and planning for a layout since 2001. I joined the Old Colony Model Railroad Club in Taunton, MA, to learn the skills necessary to build a home layout. I also attended Hub Division meetings regularly.
Since moving to Connecticut in 2006, I have purchased a house, added a 20 X 60 layout room, and begun construction on Persimmon Crossing, a layout set in southern Indiana in 1947. In addition to the B&O and Monon, it also includes the Southern and the Illinois Central. One 2’ X 50’ run is scenicked and operational. A second 2’X50’ run is under construction, as is a 9’ X 7’ double helix.
Visitors are always welcome. I am usually home, days and evenings.
When Seeley Kellogg was elected President of Nutmeg Division, I volunteered to help. I want attendance at the monthly meetings to grow, and with that, membership to grow. We are trying to include meaningful clinic presentations as well as layout visits to that end.
